MYNYDD MAWR - „Elephant Mountain”

Hello.

We are returning to the Mynydd Mawr summit, which we cancelled in December due to weather conditions.

So we hope that this time it will be successful and we will set off on Sunday on February 6.

The loop-like route, which under favourable conditions will lead us to the Mynydd Mawr peak, is 698 m above sea level.

The mountain is located in the north-west part of the Snowdonia National Park.

It is located approximately 7 km west of Snowdon Summit. From the top, in good weather, views of Llyn Cwellyn, Moel Hebog, the Llyn Peninsula, Isle of Anglesey, Caernarfon Bay and even the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland.

Looking at the profile of the mountain from the north, you can see a shape resembling a lying elephant, hence it is often referred to by the Welsh as "Yr Eliffant" - the Elephant Mountain.

This is another mountain in this part of Wales where remains of ancient settlements and primitive farmland systems have been discovered.

We will get to know these and other interesting facts during our trip, the technical details of which are as follows:

- loop length approx. 11 km

- 540 m elevation

- walking time 4 hours

PRACTICAL INFORMATION:

The trip is intended for adults.

The price for the event is £ 10 per person.

We travel to the meeting point by our own cars and at our own expense.

People who do not have cars can use other places after agreeing with the organizer and participating in the cost of fuel.

We take trekking shoes, warm clothes, raincoats, hats and gloves on the trail.

Each participant takes something to eat and drink in the backpack during the march.
